What this policy covers
This page explains the small amount of information humanconcern.org stores in your browser, why we store it, and how you can change your mind about it at any time. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information more broadly.
The consent banner
The first time you visit, a small banner asks whether we can remember which campaign, email or ad brought you here. Choosing Accept or Decline is saved so the banner does not ask again — you can change that choice at any time from the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of any page.
What we actually store
- Your cookie choice itself — so the banner does not keep reappearing. This one is set regardless of what you choose, since it has to remember the choice.
- Campaign attribution (only if you choose Accept) — which campaign or source your visit is associated with, for up to a few days, so that if you browse a few pages before donating, the right campaign still gets credit. This never contains your name, email or any other personal detail — only short internal labels.
- Standard WordPress functionality — if you log into the site (staff only), a login session cookie keeps you signed in.
If you decline
Declining removes any campaign-attribution cookie already set and stops a new one from being set. The site works exactly the same either way — donation links, forms and every page function normally regardless of your choice.
Where a gift actually goes through
Completing a donation takes you to our payment processor’s own secure page, which sets its own cookies under its own policy — this page only covers humanconcern.org itself.
